Rockton Lions Club is a Part of the Christmas Walk Tradition

When you think of the Rockton Lions, you might think of Old Settlers Days (OSD). You might also think of community involvement. During the Rockton Christmas Walk, you could consider the pancake breakfast provided with sensitive Santa, or the help the Lions gave to light Settler’s Park, or best of all, the Wimpy’s Auction. The Rockton Lions are involved in all of these and have a true tie to the Rockton community through all the service they provide.

The Rockton Lions took over Wimpy’s calling. The drive for this project originated decades ago when an officer, Everett Vaughan, from the Rockton Police force began helping local children with hats, gloves, and coats during the winter months. This effort grew into what the Rockton Lions do today. The Wimpy’s Auction helps provide funding for Wimpy’s Fund. Wimpy’s Fund, in turn, provides holiday treatment – from decorations, to food, to presents – for families in need.

The Rockton Lions take pride in participating in events like the Rockton Christmas Walk and enjoy serving the community. This 77 year-old club, has assisted many groups and individuals over the years and thanks the support given by the community that allows them to continue their work. If you are interested in helping Wimpy’s Fund or have specific questions, please contact Lion Tami Verstraete via email at [email protected]. You can also donate at the First National Bank Macktown or mail them directly to the Rockton Lions Club, PO Box 90, Rockton, Illinois 61072. Please write “Wimpy’s” in the memo portion of your check.

Happy Holidays from the Rockton Lions!

Bach Family to be Grand Marshal of 2015 Lighted Christmas Parade

The Bach family have always been wonderful supporters of the Christmas Walk. They participate in the festivities each year as a family tradition.

For the past few years, Gary J. Bach Agency has been our Presenting Sponsor, and we are honored to have them be our 2015 Grand Marshals.

Here is what they have to say about the walk:

We look forward to seeing everyone around Downtown Rockton over Christmas Walk Weekend!  We even have family coming in from out of town to join in the festivities.  Don’t forget to look for us on our Golf Cart in the Lighted Parade.

Rockton Christmas Walk Lights Up Downtown Rockton on Dec. 5th

The Stateline Chamber is proud to bring the 31st Annual Rockton Christmas Walk – Presented by Gary J. Bach Agency – to Rockton’s famously beautiful downtown district. Over the years this event has grown and become a family tradition for thousands. This year’s festivities will take place over the weekend of December 4th, 5th & 6th, with Saturday the 5th hosting our traditional festivities. With holiday events and shopping specials happening all week long, the Rockton Christmas Walk continues its tradition of being the official kickoff to the holiday season. A full list of all that’s happening over the weekend, visit

Attendees are treated to all kinds of great holiday cheer, including the Candy Cane Craft Show on Saturday, 7:30am to 3pm, and a Pancake Breakfast just across the corner. The show features various local crafters and vendors selling holiday themed goodies, and the Breakfast is the perfect way to start the day with good food, and a visit with Santa Clause.

Village Green Park hosts the “Lighting of the Park” at 4pm where the public is treated to young ones singing Christmas Carols, and the lighting of Katie’s Tree just before they light up the entire park and sip on some Hot Chocolate. Plus, Santa Clause always finds time to visit.

Saturday night is one of the best times to visit, with the famous “Lighted Christmas Parade” at 6pm featuring over 40 lighted and themed floats, and thousands of on lookers with the Joy of Christmas written all over their glowing faces.

After the parade, the American Center is filled with generous locals helping support the Rockton Lions Club and the Wimpy’s Fund, as they participate in the Wimpy’s Fund Auction. The fund is used to purchase food, clothing, and presents for families in need over the holidays.

Want to participate? You can still submit your entry to the Parade. Just visit their website and download the form.

The Christmas Walk is planned every year by the Rockton Chamber of Commerce. Recently the Rockton Chamber merged with the Roscoe Chamber, and has renamed the new consolidated organization to the Stateline Chamber. This move was a long time in the works, as leaders from both organizations have worked on a merge since as far back as 15 years ago. The new Stateline Chamber is committed to promoting the unique qualities of each village, while remaining dedicated to regional business growth and quality of life.
