  • Board & Brush Roscoe – Candy Cane Sponsor

Woodworking techniques and skills combined with the latest trends and custom graphics is what created the DIY Board & Brush Creative Studios concept.

Our DIY wood sign workshops started as a “Girl’s Night Out” with wine and crafts in our founder’s basement and quickly turned into a business idea. What started out as one studio in Wisconsin has now grown to more than 120 locations across the U.S.—and we are adding new studios every month!

    OUR VISION AND MISSION

At Board & Brush Creative Studio, our goal is to turn you into a “DIY master” by encouraging you to understand and appreciate the beauty of raw materials—the wood, the knots, the color variations and the simple imperfections that will make your project unique. Distressing, sanding with the grain, and staining are a few of the important steps we will guide you through to make your personalized wood sign look as though it has been with you for years—like a vintage heirloom.

Our mission: Hone your own passion for décor & DIY projects; we hand you the tools & direction, you create the friendships and craft.

EXPERIENCE NOT NEEDED! JUST BRING YOUR CREATIVITY & PERSONALITY!

Never used a hammer, sand paper, or a power tool? Never added picture hangers to a home décor sign to hang on your wall? Never waxed wood to protect it from the elements and make it glisten in the light? Don’t worry! We will teach you all of these skills.

We work with top graphic designers from all over the country to provide you with the most up-to-date, inspiring designs that will adorn your walls for years to come. In addition, our custom stencil process allows you to personalize your piece with your surname, monogram, the year of your special event or the names of your beloved children … the possibilities are endless and design choices are expansive.

We believe “classy and classic” will always have a place in your home.

PERSONALIZED WOOD SIGN EVENTS FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Board & Brush offers a wide variety of hands-on, private experiences from workshops, private parties, bridal showers, bachelorette gatherings, children’s birthday bashes, corporate events, and fundraisers. All projects are a flat fee and include everything you will need to leave with a beautiful, classic wooden piece to adorn your walls.

  • Dairyhäus – Candy Cane Sponsor

Homemade from Our Family to Yours. One Little Shoppe, with One Big Heart.

The Dairyhäus was founded in 1983 by Chuck Gilbert, a salesman at local Taylor Freezer, as a way to showcase locally made ice cream manufacturing equipment. After many cones, sundaes, and scoops later the shoppe was passed down to Annie Murray. She was given the recipe book of the original twenty-four flavors so she could continue the legacy that Dairyhäus holds today. Annie built a pillar of flavors which resulted in families returning summer after summer for our one of a kind service and scrumptious ice cream. Wanting to keep the business traditional and family friendly she then passed the shoppe down to her son, the present day owner, Brent Murray. Since then, ice cream lovers of the world have enjoyed homemade, handcrafted ice cream in a profusion of flavors. Today Brent and his team continues to consolidate Rockton’s emblem of not only ice cream, but community as well.

Our staff welcomes you as family into our häus and leaves you with sweet treats and smiles for your family.

  • Rockton Lions Club – Candy Cane Sponsor

The Rockton Lions of Rockton, IL have been serving the state-line area since 1938, and we aren’t slowing down any time soon! With a membership of 80+ we have many local fund-raisers and service projects such as Candy Day, Flower Day, Christmas Auction, delivering Wimpy’s Fund gifts, hearing screening, blood drives, providing eye glasses to area children, downtown planting projects, and Old Settlers Days to name a few. The profits from the fund raisers are funneled directly back into our community serving the needs of other organizations and individuals, while focusing on sight and sound related disabilities.

Every year at Rockton’s Christmas Walk, the Lions organize an auction beginning after the lighted parade ends. Items donated from local business and individuals are auctioned off in live and silent auctions. The proceeds from this event are used to fund the food and gift baskets.  Long before there was Wimpy’s Fund, there was Wimpy the police chief, Everett Vaughan, a generous character who often reached into his pockets to help needy families. Vaughan served as police chief in Rockton from 1977 to 1981 and was a police officer before that time. Officer Vaughan was given the nickname Wimpy which derived from the cartoon character in Popeye who would walk the streets carrying a sandwich board. As area residents heard of his kind heart they began giving Wimpy money to buy gifts and food for the families in need. Since that time Wimpy’s fund has grown to serve the Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit, Harrison, and Shirland, Illinois communities.

Rockton Lions Club began overseeing the collections and distribution of food, toys, and clothing after Wimpy’s passing.  A very special thank you goes out to Charlotte Larrison, Rhonda Fair, Jack Stewart, Paul Cannell and now Tami Verstraete for keeping the tradition. During the Christmas season each year dozens of volunteers wrap presents, and distribute them along with food baskets to families in the area. If you wish to contribute to or help with fundraising forWimpy’s fund or just want to read the whole Wimpy’s Fund story, please head to http://www.rocktonlions.com/wimpy-s-fund.html.
